I would like to talk about deficiencies and detentions.
Deficiencies are typically something that needs to be fixed but is not immediate enough that it must be fixed immediately. We would generally give a week or two weeks to fix the issue. TPO’s may give a similar time frame
Detentions – a hazardous condition that affects the vessel’s ability to operate and must be corrected immediately. Generally fall into 3 categories – Fire Fighting, Life Saving, or Water Tight Integrity.
