1 How do they all interact?
Earth, Sun and Moon How do they all interact?

2 Earth in Motion Daylight hours – at equator there is not much change throughout year with respect to daylight hours. Move further south or north and notice the greater the differences in daily light hours. Why? Earth is on a rotation which takes almost 24 hours and the earth is on a 23.5o tilt as well.

3 Moon The moon rotates on an axis as well.
The moon’s period of rotation (spin once) and period of revolution (time to orbit around earth once) have become equal. We always see the same side of the moon

4 Eclipses Sun and moon seem similar in sky in terms of size.
Sun is 400x larger than the moon, but it is also 400x further away. Solar eclipse

5 Eclipses Lunar Eclipse

6 Tides Alternate rising and falling of the level of the oceans everyday. The gravitational pull of the moon and sun on earth’s oceans causes the water bodies to bulge.
