2. Imagery
Imagery means to use figurative language to represent objects, actions and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses. The five senses are…
Sight (visual imagery)
Sound (auditory imagery)
Smell (olefactory imagery)
Touch (tactile imagery)
Taste (gustatory imagery)

3. Imagery Examples It was dark and dim in the forest.
He whiffed the aroma of brewed coffee.
The girl ran her hands on a soft satin fabric.
The fresh and juicy orange is very cold and sweet
Now you try… write one sentence using two different examples of sensory imagery.

4. Repetition
Repetition is a literary device that repeats the same words or phrases a few times to make an idea clearer. 
Example: “A horse is a horse, of course, of course, And no one can talk to a horse of course That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mister Ed.” –Mr. Ed TV Show Theme Song circa 1960s

5. Rhetorical Question
A rhetorical question is asked when the questioner knows the answer already or an answer is not actually demanded.
So, an answer is not expected from the audience. Such a question is used to emphasize a point or draw the audience’s attention.
Example: Shylock: “If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?” –The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare

6. Metaphor The assignment was a breeze
Metaphor is a figure of speech which makes an indirect comparison between two things that are unrelated but share some common characteristics.
In other words, a comparison is made between two contradictory or different objects based on a single or some common characteristics.
Example: The skies of his future began to darken.

7. Simile Try to write a simile of your own!
A simile is a figure of speech that makes a comparison, showing similarities between two different things.
Unlike a metaphor, a simile draws resemblance with the help of the words “like” or “as”. Therefore, it is a direct comparison.
Example: The girl was as radiant as the sun.
The man was like a lion in his ferocity.
Try to write a simile of your own!
