3. Volunteer Opportunity
The Maple Ridge Christmas Festival Society is looking for interested students who need volunteer hours.
On Saturday, December 1st 2018 we will be hosting the Maple Ridge Christmas Festival and Parade at Memorial Peace Park.
There are three shifts, morning; afternoon and evening.
We will provide snacks, food and drink.
Volunteer Positions consist of:
Set-up (yurt set up, tents and tables, judges booth, decorations)
Take down
Barricade
Popcorn station
Hot chocolate station
Song Book distribution, etc.
We will hold a meeting on Tuesday, November 27th 2018 in the Fraser room of the Maple Ridge Public Library for Volunteers to attend.

Work & Volunteer can be combined. References for GTP are optional.

7. Résumé Must Haves Clear type Professional font Professional size:
10, 11, 12, 14 depending on the font
White or cream paper
Quality of paper
Equal to photocopier paper
Size of type: look at handouts that teachers typically give you.

8. Résumé Don’ts
Large type or unprofessional fonts – don’t get fancy, don’t try to disguise minimal information with large type
Spelling or grammatical errors… PROOF READ!
Photos or a physical description of yourself
Inappropriate addresses
Coloured paper (and careful about coloured ink, including grey)
Acceptable colours for underlining, etc: Red, Burgundy, Navy, Dark Green. Type should be Black or the darkest of greys (so dark it looks black).

Or use a template as a guide to create your own
You should not pay money for your resume if using an online template.

10. Reference Letters GOAL: to get 2 reference letters
2 references are needed for scholarships: one in school, and one out of school reference
Possible references:
Teachers, coaches, employers
Reference letter NOT REQUIRED for GTP unless you need it elsewhere
Contact possible references now! Give them time to write a good reference letter.
If you are presenting something in GTP that required Reference Letters, then you should have copies with you at the Presentation.

11. Cover Letters Cover letters are optional for GTP
If you need a cover letter for post secondary applications, please see Mrs. Cooley

Cover Letters are not required for GTP, but Mrs. Cooley is available for help.

12. DUE November 23rd
An up-to-date resume with zero errors, completely perfect
November 23rd Due Date allows for time to make corrections before marks cut off.
If you’d like to hand in your resume today, put it into the wicker hand-in basket.
