4 Iambic foot Consists of an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one.

5 Iambic foot example Before : (be-FORE) Be- = unstressed syllable
Fore = stressed syllable Return : (re-TURN) Re- = unstressed syllable

6 Trochaic foot Consists of a stressed syllable followed by an unstressed one.

7 Funny : (FUN-ny) Double: (DOU-ble) Trochaic foot example
Fun- = stressed syllable ny = unstressed syllable Double: (DOU-ble) Dou- = stressed syllable ble = unstressed syllable

8 Anapestic foot Consists of two unstressed syllables followed by a stressed one. Example: Contradict = Con-tra-DICT

9 Dactylic foot Consists of a stressed syllable followed by two unstressed ones. Examples: Merrily = (MER-ri-ly) Syllable = (SY-lla-ble)

10 Spondaic foot Consists of two stressed syllables. Example:
Moonshine = (MOON-SHINE) Football = (FOOT–BALL)

11 LINES Lines are classified according to the number of metrical feet they contain: Monometer (one foot) Dimeter (two feet) Trimeter (three feet) Tetrameter (four feet) Pentameter (five feet) Hexameter (six feet), and so on…
