ECM Subject Leader Guidance/Notes
Using the self-evaluation pages in the subject leader booklet for your subject begin the process of self evaluation. You will continue to use this in school to help you fill in gaps in your current evaluation processes. TRAINER – EXPLAIN THAT THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE GAP TASK. Participants will use this and report back on Day 2 IF THEY COMPLETE THE TASK DURING THE TRAINING DAY COMPLETELY THEN THEY WILL BEGIN TO CONSIDER ONE ASPECT IN DETAIL THAT THEY WILL ACTION AS A KEY PRIORITY USE 3 COLOURS GREEN - IDENTIFY STATEMENTS THAT THEY KNOW ARE CORRECT AND WHERE THEY HAVE THE EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT THEIR HYPOTHESIS ORANGE – STATEMENTS THAT THEY AREN’T SURE ABOUT & NEED TO CHECK PINK – STATEMENTS WHERE THEY HAVE NO EVIDENCE THAT THEY MEET THAT STANDARD – THIS WILL FORM PART OF THE PRIORITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

Using your Subject Leadership booklet (self-evaluation pages) have a go at self- evaluating your subject: Choose the grade for each aspect that best fits where your subject is (based upon your evidence) Highlighter pen- 1st colour-This is where we are……based upon evidence Highlighter pen- 2nd colour- This is a next step……..based upon evidence Highlighter pen- 3rd colour- I need more information/ evidence to make a judgement- this is an action.

Give good time to this task…….. Remind people to be clear about any actions they will take… Emphasise how this will form the basis of their strategic planning for the next academic year….

Development planning What is your key priority?
Approach: Establish the key priority and specific barrier signalled for improvement. Identify clear success criteria for evaluating the plan- link explicitly to pupil outcomes. Identify the monitoring arrangements and the projected outcomes of the plan (IMPACT) Identify the actions needed to achieve the success criteria. Impact SECTION: Needs to explicitly relate to improving outcomes for the children. Eg. Success Criteria: All teachers are planning using at least three levels of differentiation ……the IMPACT would be: Most pupils from all ability groups are making good progress from their starting points

ECM are able to deliver bitesize sessions on how to get the best from these resources for staff and groups of schools, as well as INSET days.
