Weekly Overview Week of January 7, 2019 LEARNING IS WINNING!! Math: We are continuing our learning on fractions. Students are learning how to decompose, or break apart, fractions through the use of tape diagrams and area models. Decomposition and Fraction Equivalence test is this Friday. Please use the exit tickets and homework for lessons 1-6 to review for Friday’s test. MATH Constructed Response: Students will be in charge of tracking their progress on their constructed responses. These questions are similar to what students will face on LEAP. Students are expected to model, solve, and explain their answers. They will be scored from 0-3. Please review the constructed response and sign as they come home on Tuesdays . Return to school. Review Multiplication facts nightly Science: Structures and Processes of Organisms Focus: Ecosystems In class discoveries, Interactive Notebooks, online research, videos, experiments, and discussions. Science Test: January 24th, Look out for the study guide coming home Wednesday. S.S. (BOTH CLASSES) Our test on Lewis and Clark will be tomorrow. This week we are learning about the journey west and will be taking notes on a study guide that will be used for a test next week. Reading: We are beginning our novel “The Lightening Thief” this week. This novel is to be kept at school. A cold read test will be given this Friday and will consist of TWO passages, as this is how the Leap test will be formatted. Spelling: We are on continuing unit 15 this week searching for and using words with silent consonants. Students will be tested on these words on this week’s cold read test. Writing: Our writing has increased to 2 or more paragraphs and students are doing great using the RACE strategy for each paragraph! ACHIEVE3000.com website: New tracker sheets were given out Dec. 20th before the holidays. They will be due on Wed. Jan 30th and will require 10 or more activities.
