Actively engage clinical staff in all discussions about how services
should be developed.
Active recruitment to medical and nursing vacancies.
Increase bed capacity to restore surgical throughput, reduce
waiting lists and avoid accident and emergency delays for medical
patients.
Work innovatively to increase surgical capacity.
Need for local leadership.
Replace current MRI scanner to reduce patients needing to travel out of
the area

2. Bronglais General Hospital
Progress to Date:
Held two meetings of the Innovation Sub Group to plan and develop
actions. Also held regular ‘meet the staff’ in hospital canteen.
New nurses employed. Recruitment campaign for Consultant
vacancies to commence in December 2015.
Refurbishment work commenced and staff recruited for the
reintroduction of 12 additional beds.
New ways of working being explored.
Senior leadership posts commenced 1st October 2015.
Business case being developed to replace MRI scanner.

The Benefits to Mid Wales:
Increased surgical capacity will deliver shorter waiting
times.
MRI scanner will ensure better diagnostics and less
travelling for patients and also the added anaesthetic
capacity will increase more effective use.
Guarantees future strategic role of Bronglais General
Hospital in which to continually serve the population of Mid
Wales.
