3 NWEA test results: Student goals
Your teacher will discuss your results in terms of percentile, where your child scored in relation to other kids in his/her grade nationwide. If he/she scored in the 31st or below percentile, he/she will be assigned to intervention cohort for extra help. NWEA test results: Student goals

4 What’s Expected and how will it be monitored
Intervention students are asked to complete question assessment on a single topic each week (using a standardized & aligned assessment tool) Reports will go out to your teacher weekly ~ telling what standard you worked on and what your score was. What’s Expected and how will it be monitored

5 How the data is used We use this data in an SST meeting if you want your student evaluated for special ed accommodations School accountability – This data is reported to the school board to show that teachers are addressing student needs. Teachers and parents use this data to help target instruction to areas that need growth.

Choose a standard to work on and start studying I know that it’s exciting, but don’t jump in and just guess! Be strategic and really try A topic is passed when the student answers at least 10 questions with a level of accuracy of 70% or better. Beware: the more questions you answer wrong, the more you must answer correctly to get 70% and earn that blue ribbon.

This is what a question looks like; it looks like a quiz, right. Many students guess to finish quickly rather than working out each problem. They do this on the NWEA and SBAC tests as well. It is important to teach students to work out each problem before looking at the answer choices. I advise parents/teachers to monitor this process closely at first to make sure that students work out each problem and seek help when they don’t understand. I tell students to stop if they get 3 wrong to look at the lesson and practice. before they continue. Click on the lesson link from the main page to see the full lesson with notes, examples, and to find the video button. Each time a student answers a question, he/she can see a step-by-step solution by clicking the “explanation”. When students finish 10 questions, they will be asked if they want to go over the missed questions, so choosing the explanation immediately will help them answer correctly the next time.

10 More hints for Accountability
At the end of the session or before attempting a session, students can choose the lesson which includes both explanation and examples or flash cards and may offer a video lesson. If the parent (or student) clicks on the score, he/she can see the time spent on the quiz as well as a link to the missed problems & the answers to them. More hints for Accountability

11 Reminders: Study one of the topics that your teacher recommends with your parents (don’t necessarily start at the top of the list) . At the end of the week, complete question assessment on a single topic If you get 3 wrong, STOP and review before you continue We would like to see Blue Ribbons each week, but growth over time is most important
