Molarity (M) M = moles of solute / Liters of Solution
What is the molarity of a solution where 25 grams of NaCl is dissolved in 250 mL of water?
2
Dilutions Most chemicals come from the chemical company in the most concentrated form. For example, when we order hydrochloric acid it comes in a big stock bottle with a concentration of 15 M. Most of the labs that we do only require 1.0M HCl. How do we make a 1.0M solution?
3
Dilution Problems A stock solution of 1.00M NaCl is available. How many milliliters are needed to make mL of 0.750M NaCl? M1V1 = M2V2

Molality (m) m = moles solute / kilograms solvent
What is the molality of a solution where 45 grams of NaCl is dissolved in 333 grams of solvent?
