Personal Factors – these are often inherited but also what happens to you immediately before and after birth. (nature)
External factors – where and how you grow up and the events and experiences you have (nurture)

Learning difficulties
Disabilities
Personality and temperament
Pregnancy and birth

4. External Factors Love and Interaction Stimulations and play
Physical conditions
Food and drink

5. Factors that might negatively affect development
Family breakdown
Bereavement
Parenting problems
Poverty
Accident or illness
Discrimination and bullying
In groups of three take one factor and research how the factor might influence development – link the factor to the personal and external factors

6. Combining personal and external factors
E.g. personality can be genetic but what happens to them is also important
