Adverbs Modify verbs (most often), adjectives, and other adverbs
Usually end in –ly Indicate manner, extent, place, direction, time, and negation Answer the questions where, when, why, how, how often, and to what extent

Qualifiers Modifies an adjective or another adverb
Strengthens or weakens the word it modifies Right before the word it modifies

Misplaced Modifiers The hunter crouched behind a tree waiting for a bear to come along with a bow and arrow. We saved the scraps of meat for the dog that had been left on our plates. A woman passed by, leading a Springer spaniel in a long black dress. Watch out for almost, only, and not.
