1. Second Grade March Newsletter Reading
In this unit, students are learning to pay attention to their own reading voices in addition to listening to the voices of their characters. They are building a bridge between fluency and comprehension. The students are making sure that their reading is fluent-smooth.
Science
The students are
finishing the Balance and Motion unit and will begin working with plants within the next few weeks.
Social Studies
In Social Studies, the students will continue to learn how and why communities change over time. The students will study timelines and life in NYC past and present.
Writing
Our second graders have become poets! The students are learning how to see things through a poet’s eyes. They are learning that poets choose to write about topics that are meaningful to them. The students will learn about word choice, repetition, comparisons and structure.
Math
Students are working on story problems. They will visualize and retell stories about an unknown change and record their solution so that someone else can understand their strategy.
