2. Bakground : Punjab EDUSAT Project
Edusat Network has been established in the year November 2007 for the objective of providing quality education through Punjab Edusat Society to the students of Govt. institutions of School Education Department, Department of Technical Education, Department of Higher Education and Department of Medical Education of the State.
One State Hub and 3 State of Art Studios have been established in the premises of Punjab School Education Board Building, SAS Nagar, Mohali.

3. Present Network Status :
Satellite Interactive Terminals = 516 (under process to upgraded)
Receive only Terminals = 3289
E-Libraries = 2983 (to view the content as and when required by students)
Target Audience:
Students of School Education 8th to 12th (8th to 10th all students,11th and 12th (Medical, Non-Medical, Commerce, Humanity Group, Batches on special programs)
Teacher Training : School Teachers, School Heads, other education officers and Training/Workshops from other departments.

6. Importance: Punjab EDUSAT Project
Edusat is a centralized Platform to impart Quality Education using multimedia and animated techniques.
Various Departmental Training/ Workshops are conducted through Edusat Network (e.g. ‘Parho Punjab Paraho Punjab’, Instructions from PSEB, RMSA-SSA Teacher Training, SMC Training)
Trainings conducted by other departments (e.g. Health Department, Water Sanitation Deptt., Traffic Awareness Wing)
Important Accouchements (e.g. Vaccination related, Exam related)

8. Future Plan of Action: Punjab EDUSAT Project
As an expansion plan Edusat Network is proposed to establish in Govt. Primary & Middle Schools of the State.
E-Content is also being prepared from classes 1st to 10th for smart classrooms.
Up-gradation of Interactive Network (SITs) under progress.

9. Role & Responsibility of DEOs (SE)
Overall monitoring the Edusat Project in their respective districts.
Inspection visits in the schools with Edusat facility.
To keep the ROTs/e-Libraries Network functional and send the updated report on monthly basis. (ROTs maintenance grant for ROTs/amalgamated funds)
Take adequate steps to stop the theft cases and to obtain proper FIR/NTR for these cases.
