Ice-breaker How many of you have had conversations with people in general and/or potential students about why one would want to be a teacher these days? How many of you have seen drops in enrollments in your teacher certification programs?

How do we re-brand teaching to attract students who are passionate, talented, creative agents of change? We will take the next 40 minutes to think through this question. We will use a Design Thinking frame for a “Mini” Design Challenge Design Challenge

Empathy: What is wrong? In the eyes of potential teacher candidates, what is the reputation of the teaching field now? As Teacher Educators how do we feel about what we do? How do we feel about our students? How do we feel about the Profession? Why doesn’t the best and brightest want to join us? Why doesn’t anyone want to join us?
