Next you put a line through the equal sign for organization reasons, and since this is addition the opposite of addition is subtracting so you do – 5 because 5 is the number you are adding on the top.

Then you cancel out +5 and -5 and move the X to the bottom and then you minus 9-5 and that equals 4 so that means X=4.
Then if you check your work 4+5=9.

Next you put a line through the equal sign for organization reasons, and since this is subtraction the opposite of subtraction is addition so you do + 3 because 3 is the number you are subtracting on the top.

To get your answer you cancel out the top 3 and the -3, and you subtract 2-3 and you will get 5. To check your work you add 5-3 which equals 2.

Next you put a line through the equal sign for organization reasons, and since this is multiplication the opposite of multiplication is division so you do 12 4 and you will get 3 so that means that X = 3.

First you write the equation. To find out the answer you think to yourself what is blank divided by 8 that equals 4?
Then you think what 4x8 is and that is your answer.

To check your work you now know the missing number is 32 so to check your work you do which equals 4.
