I am going to start of by putting this validation study into perspective by using the treatment of ADHD as an example.
ADHD: treatment guidelines, specify, which type of prescriber, start treatment
I think, essential part of drug use studies is to actually assess whether such guidelines, followed.
In prescriptions Registry, Actually have this prescriber information in prescriber variable, denotes, prescriber type, prescribed the prescription.

May be explained by the validity of this variable being questioned or little knowledge of the existence
Therefore we aimed to validate the presciriber information in danish prescription database

Shame that it is underutilized because of the great potential…. Great information…
So can we trust is??????

4. = At the pharmacy A total of 2000 non-electronic prescriptions

Before I go deeper into our method, you need to know
we have electronic and non-electronic presriptions
While the information from electronic prescritions is transfrerred electronically to the pharmacy’s dispensing system, the information from non-electronic prescriptions must be entered manually by the staff, thus introducing some potential misclassification of prescriber type.
We can therefore assume perfect registration of electronic prescirptions, and we therefore only focused on non-electronic prescritions
-Very simply we collected 2000 non-electronic prescriptions
Compared prescriber information
With dispensing systems as corresponds to what is recorded in prescription database.
A total of 2000 non-electronic prescriptions
collected at 5 pharmacies

5. Incorrect prescriber type=
We found… nearly 18 percent.. Misclassified prescriber type.

Excluding prescriptions with missing prescriber information =
From the information, prescription database, We were able to exclude missing information  thereby  achived greater validity  with approx 4 percent misclassified.

7. The share of non-electronic prescriptions is decreasing
To interpret the overall valdity of prescriber variable, take into account the share which is decreasing and currently around percent

The Prescriber information in the Danish National Prescription Registry is valid
The Prescriber information can be of great use in drug utilization studies
