There are only three reasons a coach is allowed to come on the field during the game… to help an injured player to break up a fight to dispute a call In a similar manner, the only time an elder gets involved directly in ministry are for the same purposes: To encourage spiritual health and well being, prayer, healing, sacraments, teaching as part of discipleship process and strategy To respond to church conflict To maintain doctrinal purity ALLIANCE ELDER Something significant happens every time an elder ‘crosses the sideline’ PASTOR MINISTRY LEADER

3 Alliance Governance Model… How the Game is Played!
When the pastor (a special type of elder) crosses the line there is an immediate change in the lines of authority and accountability. When on the field the pastor holds all others on the field accountable. When he crosses the line to meet with the elders however, the pastor is now held accountable by the elders boards. In the same manner, if an elder serves as a ministry leader, as soon as the elder crosses the line to get involved in ministry, the elder – now a ministry leader, is held accountable by the pastor or ministry leader in which they serve. ALLIANCE ELDER Basic Ground Rule: Something significant happens every time an elder ‘crosses the side line’ PASTOR MINISTRY LEADER
