What is a fossil? Fossils are the remains of plants and animals that lived a very long time ago. They are mostly found in rocks and stones. Fossils are important because they tell us a story about things that lived on the earth before us.

Fossil fuel Fossil fuel are made up of natural resources like anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms. Types of fossil fuel are natural gas, oil and coal. Natural gas is lighter than air. Natural gas is mostly made up of methane. Oil is used for petroleum products and motor gasoline. Coal is used for generating electricity and separating ingredients of coal (such as methanol and ethylene).
