Travel: The way of getting a person from one place to another – by road, rail, water, or air. Tourism: A service based industry – giving people something to visit. DEFINITIONS OF ‘TRAVEL’ AND ‘TOURISM’ “If it is correct to think that to enjoy a service as a tourist you need to travel to a destination, it would be equally true to say that you can travel without making use of any of the services that the tourism industry provides.” What do You Think About This?

A Memorable Experience Two years ago I traveled with my husband to San Diego, California. We planned a one week outbound tourism experience. We spent our first day traveling by plane. Once we arrived, we took a taxi to reach the hotel. After that, we used the local transport system of trains and buses to move around. Since their transportation system was so efficient, we were able to explore the city and visit many local restaurants for different eating experiences. We also visited many local attractions like the Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, and Old Town. We booked guided tours to Stone brewery and to a tower in Balboa Park. Although we did not spend much time at the hotel, we reserved our stay at a Hilton facility which guaranteed us a good night sleep. Overall, I consider my visit to San Diego a very pleasant experience and my husband and I would like to repeat in the future. EXAMPLE
