5.  Nestor Studios built the first studio in Hollywood in California in 1911. Nestor Studios later merged with Universal Studios. California's more hospitable climate led to the eventual shift of virtually all filmmaking to the West Coast by the 1930s.

6. This era is also marked by the appearance of the most prestigious cinema award - the Oscar. In 1929, the first ceremony was held at the Roosevelt Hotel, which lasted 15 minutes, 250 people came to it.
