4. Social networking platforms: are they an effective tool for quick and convenient communication I think that in this modern world, there is a case for the efficiency of social media. It isn't only useful for social networking. It played an interesting role in the last two elections. Many traditional media centers were made to rethink their news dissemination systems mainly because social media was making news travel faster. (One might say this is not necessarily a good thing since the validity of the news is questioned). With the way everyone around the world has become interconnected, it makes sense to want to know what is going on in their lives even through social media. Ideas are traveling faster and people living countries apart are affecting each other's world view. These are all good things. 4

Social networking platforms: they just a sophisticated means for stalking people As to the stalking question, I can see why you would think that social media is contributing to it, and indeed it is. But is this not just another fact of most things? Everything has a good and bad side to it. Stalking and other evils of social media exist just as much as the positives. I don't think we can have one and not expect the other since, as you wisely note, "There is a lot of sick individuals in this world with the good intentions of others not high on their priority list." I am not saying we should just accept that stalking is encouraged in social media. We should in fact find ways to reduce or remove it. However, I don't think that stalking alone is a worthy point to make us question the efficiency and necessity of social media as a whole. 6
