Planning Peace Yalta Conference (February 1945) Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin meet to discuss post WWII Peace Talks 2) Stalin agreed to free elections in Eastern Europe (Poland) 3) Stalin agreed to help the U.S. in the war against Japan and to join the United Nations Potsdam Conference (July 1945) Truman, Clement Atlee, Stalin Stalin did not keep promises at Yalta 1)They agreed to divide Germany into 4 occupied zones after the war While at Potsdam – Truman learns of a successful test of the Atomic Weapon

International peace keeping organization 50 + nations meet Lead by the World Powers – (US, USSR, Britain, France, China) Permanent seats in the Security Council. Universal Declaration of Rights Rights to all people All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
