4 MAIN TASKS Development of production of plant, animal and aquatic products production, Research on development of agriculture sector and establishment of agriculture policies, Provision of food production, safety and reliability, Protection of rural development, soil, water resources and biodiversity and ensuring efficient usage, Organization and awareness of farmers, Effective management of agricultural subsidies and regulation of agricultural markets, Determination of general policies for food, agriculture and livestock, monitoring and audit.

Animal health services and studies are carried out by 3 Departments within the body of General Directorate of Food and Control : -Department of Animal Health and Quarantine -Department of Border Inspection for Animal and Animal Products -Department of Veterinary Health Products and Public Health

17 ANIMAL DISEASES PREVENTION PROJECT
Animal Diseases Prevention Project is being carried out in order to protect animal health and therefore public health by fighting against animal diseases which are declared in accordance with the Law No as notifiable animal diseases. 34 terresterial , 17 aquatic animal diseases were determined as notifiable diseases. In this context, 9 vaccination programs have being implemented for; -FMD Anthrax -LSD PPR -Bovine Brucellosis Sheep and Goat Pox -Sheep and Goat Brucellosis Blue Tongue -Rabies

18 ANIMAL DISEASES PREVENTION PROJECT
The fight against diseases includes the control of animal movements by registering animals (Small and Large Ruminants) and holdings, the application of vaccines, the application of biological substances used in health monitoring and diagnosis of diseases. Within the scope of the project, appropriations are sent to 81 Provincial Directorates, 8 Regional Veterinary Control Institute Directorates, Foot and Mouth Disease Institute Directorate and Veterinary Border Inspection Directorates.

38 PPR Last outbreak in Thrace Region was in 2013.

39 PPR CONTROL STRATEGY -Restriction of animal movements, quarantine, ring vaccination, sample collection and diagnosis -All susceptible species are vaccinated in the protection zone. All newborns and unvaccinated adults are vaccinated everyyear. (Except Thrace region) Each provincial directorate decides own annual vaccination program and in this context Etlik VCCRI sends the vaccines. Movements of unvaccinated animals to another province is not allowed and the health certificate is not issued by competent authority. (Auto-control by VIS and TURKVET databases) All imported animals are vaccinated. Training activities are organized for awereness. OBJECTIVE; firstly in Thrace, then in Anatolia to obtain the free status.
