1. Reception Class Spring 2019
Personal Social and Emotional Development
We will be talking about showing sensitivity to others needs and feelings. The children should be able to describe themselves in positive terms and talk about their abilities. We will be talking about how to negotiate and solve problems without aggression. We are encouraging the children to speak clearly and confidently about their needs, interests and opinions.
Mathematics
We need to be able to read and write numbers to 20. We will be learning the days of the week and o’clock times. We are using number lines and practical equipment to solve addition and subtraction problems. We will be using mathematical language to compare things.
Understanding the World
We will be looking at eggs at Easter from different creatures.
We are using different construction techniques to build models.
Communication, Language and Literacy
We will be reading a selection of traditional tales and using story making actions to retell these stories in the correct sequence. We will be practising our letter formation to make sure we are forming each letter correctly. We will be reading lots of words and sentences to improve our reading skills.
Physical Development
We are learning to balance and hold shapes with our bodies. We are also working on our throwing and catching skills. We are practising our scissor skills and fine motor control skills when we make models.
ICT
We are improving our mouse control by
practising drawing with Dazzle and by
completing games on My World. We will also explore programming using the Beebots. We will visit the ICT suite weekly.
Religious Education
We are looking at the life of Jesus and some of the miracles he performed.
Expressive Arts & Design
We will be acting out and retelling
stories and learning songs. In music we are copying rhythms and using instruments to represent characters in our stories. We are using our imagination to act out scenarios in the home corner and with dressing up.
Jigsaw
Our topic is Healthy Me. We will be exploring making healthy choices, eating a healthy balanced diet, being active, how to keep ourselves and our friends safe and how to be a good friend.
