How to use CFNC in your college search
Under the ‘Plan’ tab, click ‘For College’ Prepare for College - timeline and articles College Search - use search tools to learn about NC colleges Explore Programs & Majors - search for majors – learn more about them and which colleges offer that particular major Under the ‘Plan’ tab, click ‘For a Career’ Learn About Yourself – take interest inventories and learn about yourself in different ways to determine what career (and major) will be a best fit Explore Careers – learn about different careers (required education, salary, etc.)

How to use naviance in your college search
Click on ‘About Me’ Allows students to learn more about themselves and is a place for their items Assessments (Do What You Are, Strengths Explorer, etc.) My Stuff (Resume, Test scores) Click on ‘Colleges’ Allows students to research colleges now and assists with applying to colleges later Find Your Fit – allows you to research colleges (SuperMatch, Scattergrams, College Lookup) Save colleges you are interested in to “Colleges I am Thinking About”

A few more tips Get involved! Clubs, sports, and community service look great on your resume! Talk to trusted adults about your post-secondary plans. During registration, consider if honors or AP courses will be a good fit. Create a file for documents, such as: report cards, awards, artifacts, etc. Consider summer enrichment programs or volunteer opportunities. Talk small steps toward independence. Take responsibility for your own success! Check out the NMHS Student Services website!

Ncaa clearinghouse – FYI
All high school student athletes wishing to play a sport in college will need to register for the NCAA Clearinghouse next year (11th grade) There is a $65 fee to register For more information, Mr. Redd at
