Label each of the Oceans and Continents Trace the Prime Meridian and Equator in BLACK Color the Ocean in BLUE, Continents in color(s) of your choice (a separate color that is not blue) Locate the North Pole, Write your first name and last name initial on the pentagon Cut out your globe Start taping the edges together until you have created a globe! Perceptual Regions… A perceptual region is an area that exists as part of a cultural identity Perceptual regions change based on movements of ideas, customs, and in some cases material items, all of which can affect the standard of living in a place United States: Bread Basket, Rust Belt, Tornado Alley, Silicon Valley, Cotton Belt, San Andreas Fault, and Sunbelt Work in groups to determine: 1) Where is each region? (by putting it on the Map, you have answered this question) 2) What sets each of the regions of the United States apart from the rest of the country? Migrations happen because something drives them away from their native country and draws them toward a new place. Think about what may have drawn people to parts of the US and Canada in the past (Pull Factors) and factors that may have urged individuals in foreign countries to leave their homes(Push Factors)… Using Chapter 8 and your Regions of Canada notes, look for those push and pull factors that have had the greatest impact on migrations to and from the United States and Canada… In the 2-column chart, list as many push and pull factors as you can find that have influenced emigration from other countries and immigration to the US and Canada Lastly, answer the following question: How does immigration into the US affect the country, and how does emigration from other countries affect those places left behind?
