Why Believe In Jesus John 8:24
3
Fulfilled Prophecy The significance is that this
The apostles appealed to this (Acts 3:18; 17:1-3) All nations blessed (Gen. 22:17-18; Gal. 3:8) A prophet like Moses (Deut. 18:15, 17-19; Acts 3:22-23) A forerunner before Him (Isa. 40:3; Matt. 3:3) Born of a virgin (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23) The suffering servant (Isa. 53:4-12; Acts 8:32-35) Someone did the research and arrived at approx. 330 prophecies concerning the Messiah that are fulfilled in Jesus The significance is that this cannot be just a coincidence. The mathematical probability is off the chart. Something like one in 1017
4
Eyewitness Testimony There is more than enough
The apostles own profession (Acts 10:39-42; 2 Peter 1:16-18; 1 Jn. 1:1-3) Over 500 others (1 Cor. 15:4-8) If this is true, then His words are also true Spoke the words of the Father (Jn. 8:28-29) Only access to the Father (Jn. 14:6) There is more than enough eyewitness testimony about Jesus to stand in any court of the land, yet it is denied by so many today
5
The Uniqueness Of Jesus
“What think ye of Christ?” (Matt. 22:42) If God became man, then you would expect that man to: Have an unusual entry into life (Matt. 1:23) Be without sin (Heb. 4:15) Perform miracles (Lk. 7:22) Speak the greatest words ever spoken (Jn. 7:46) Have a lasting and universal influence (Acts 4:20) Satisfy the spiritual hunger in man (Jn. 6:35) Exercise power over death Himself (Jn. 10:17-18) Others (Lk. 7:12-16, et al) What we have studied today leads us to one conclusion: Jesus Christ IS the Son of God and we should believe in Him
