ELA curriculum Students will work on reading, writing, and grammar daily. Some resources we will use are Pearson Realize novel studies, teacher-created book clubs (twice a year), county modules to supplement writing, teacher-created grammar notes, and Language Arts Florida Standards (LAFS) workbooks. Computer programs that will be used often in class are Istation (needs to be downloaded if used at home), newsela.com (informative practice), noredink.com (grammar practice). Nearly every day will offer small group extra instruction for students performing below grade level or needing extra assistance with skills. This will be teacher-led and will involve using LAFS, online resources, and hands-on activities.

Academic Standards and End-of-the Year Expectations
Students are expected to come to school on time with their homework completed. Students are expected to complete in-class assignments on-time to the best of their ability. Students are expected to gather all missed work from their teachers when they return from an absence.
9
Behavioral Expectations
We strive to create a disruption-free environment for our students. In order to do this, we have a behavioral plan that all students must adhere to. We work to be very consistent with our plan and our students Inappropriate behavior includes touching another student or their belongings, using rude or inappropriate language, disrespect to any staff member, active defiance in class, calling out or disruptive behavior, not following technology rules, etc.
10
Behavioral Process Consequences are as follows: 1.Warning 2.Loss of privilege (loss of recess/ silent lunch) 3.Parent contact 4.Administrative Morning or lunch detentions may be assigned if poor behavior continues. Students may receive infractions for continuous poor behavior. Four infractions is equal to a referral and could lead to suspension. The infraction system may be by-passed and go straight to referral if the behavior is extreme.

Parent Involvement If you would like to get involved in our classroom, let us know! Look for volunteer opportunities in weekly s. We can often use someone to help with copies or take-home projects. We will have some classroom parties and celebrations throughout the year (Trunk or Treat, Holiday Party, 5th Grade Graduation, etc.). We appreciate all the donations of items and time to make these celebrations special! We will be going on two field trips. One will be to Enterprise Village, date TBD.
