Group Project #2: Environmental Issue
Research Issue – group divides work Species- individual research Image Each member creates a drawing their species affected by groups chosen issue Presentation and display The group will present the information and images to the class Each member will write a page on the issue,species and impact project is worth: + 30 points (drawing and write up) +15 points of participation grade + 5 points of folder check (research and presentation notes) 50 points total

Research issue- share the work load by deciding who will research which aspect of this issue- description of issue affects causes solutions Species- each member will research and draw a species that is directly affected by this issue status, range, natural history and how it is affected You need to list your resources either in the write up or displayed on the project be sure it is current information !!!

Bring in any materials you already have except paints
Art work of species Decide on species that is directly affected find photograph resources to draw from- clear and concise not an image of a drawing or painting preliminary sketches in your sketchbooks to plan your drawing. create a dynamic drawing of the species of your choice. Focusing on the head in a close up view, draws the viewer in color attracts attention and contrast (dark darks ) show the beauty and/or uniqueness of this species What will be provided: display board – reusable (1) per group colored pencils tracing paper/ transfer paper black and white drawing paper pastels, charcoal and chalk ... Bring in any materials you already have except paints

Part 3: Presentation Each group will receive a 36” x 48” display board which you will Combine: the information write ups to summarize the issues ie causes, affects and solutions Images of species and their information You will present your issue to the class in an informal group discussion and we will be displaying them in the Kirsch Center food court for the public to view.

What to hand in: Due with Sketchbooks The day of the presentation- week 11
1-display board: including write ups on the environmental issue drawing by each member of a different animal species 2- individual write up (due with sketchbooks) on the issue and how it affects your particular species, as well as the impacts the project had on you.(1 page) 3- research notes (due with sketchbooks) from the issue and species information gathered- (1 page) 4- preliminary sketch – in your sketchbook 5 - Resources- each member will have their own list of resources which they will turn in with their write ups.

Part 1: Research Break into your groups:
Decide who will research what about the specific issue Discuss what animal each member will draw and research Each person in the group will choose a different species research on the causes and affects of this issue. Each person in the group needs to contribute to the research of the issue. Each person in the group needs to choose a species and research how it is affected by this issue, natural history as it relates to issue etc Return to class at 2:00 for demonstration and check out
