We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization.

Collaborate with respite care agencies and others interested in respite care for the purpose of sharing ideas and expertise, and to provide support for each other.
Work closely with the appropriate government and private agencies and/or groups to insure the continuation and replication of quality respite services.
Promote and support the concept of quality in the delivery of respite care.
Initiate, sponsor and promote educational programs and research.
Provide consultation and disseminate information.

5. Respite Care Association of Wisconsin
Wisconsin Lifespan Respite Training – Is a comprehensive on- line course that is designed for people who are interested in providing respite care.
Wisconsin Respite Care Registry – Is an on-line matching service for Respite Care Workers and Providers to market their in-home/facility-based care services.
Mini Grant Program – For organizations/agencies to host activities/events that support RCAW’s goals and objectives such as the following:
Respite Care Worker Recruitment & Training
Family Caregiver Outreach/Education
Respite Care Provider Recruitment/Employment Fair
Other activities as approved by RCAW that support our mission
Caregiver Respite Grant Program – Is for family caregivers to meet planned and/or emergency respite care and have exhausted all other options, or don’t qualify for other long term care program assistance.
Respite Resources – Provides general caregiving resources useful to individuals providing care across the lifespan (i.e.; children adults & elderly) for a family member(s) or friend(s) with aging related care.

6. Wisconsin Lifespan Respite Training
This free comprehensive online course is designed for people who are interested in providing in-home respite care to individuals of varying disabilities and ages, across the lifespan. Participants are able to work at their own pace, with the ability to start and stop the modules as they go (within a two week period). The online training course makes use of videos, worksheets and quizzes to test the knowledge of participants. Most people complete the training in two (2) hours or less. Upon successful completion of the online course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and offered the opportunity to be added to the Wisconsin Respite Care Registry, available to families and professionals to search for in-home respite care workers in their community.

7. Wisconsin Respite Care Registry
What is the Wisconsin Respite Care Registry?
Our registry is a listing of persons who have successfully completed our free, online Wisconsin Lifespan Respite Training and who have chosen to join the Registry by uploading their pertinent profile information for families and professionals to search for trained respite care workers in their community. Each registry listing provides information about the worker/provider and the services they provide, how far they are willing to travel, specialized trainings they’ve had, and ways they can be contacted. Please note this is a listing service, not a job placement service.
How does the Registry work?
Currently the Registry has around 180+ profile listings. Families and professionals can go to RCAW’s website and conduct a search for their community using three (3) key search criteria: 1.) Age; 2.) County; and 3.) Type of Respite and the Registry will generate results based on your search criteria.
Are persons listed on the Registry an employee of RCAW?
No. This is a listing service only. The family contacts the respite care worker/provider directly where dialogue can occur, determine if it is a good fit, negotiate specific care needs and compensation for providing care. We promote the registry but do not endorse any participants.
Is there a cost to be listed on the Registry?
There is no cost for being listed on the Registry or for searching Registry.

8. Mini-Grant Program for Agencies
RCAW, intends to collaborate with applicants to provide outreach, education and training assistance through a one- day on-site outreach, recruitment, training, and/or education event. Or any combination thereof.
How the Mini-Grant Works:
Go to RCAW’s website and read the Mini-Grant Overview – thoroughly. Then complete the online application. RCAW will review your application and contact you
Eligible Applicants Can Be:
A County and/or local government agency,
A tribe or band,
A community-based private, non-profit entity, or
A community-based private entity that is operated for profit.
Types of Activities/Events we are looking to support:
Respite Care Worker Recruitment & Training
Family Caregiver Outreach/Education
Respite Care Provider Recruitment/Employment Fair
Other activities as approved by RCAW that support our mission
Training for those interested in starting a respite care agency
What are some examples the funds can be used for?
Marketing for outreach
Venue costs (no food)
Respite for attendees
Speaker stipends
Other materials, brochures, training costs, etc.
Goals:
Expand the pool of trained Respite Care Workers,
Educate local Family Caregivers,
Bring together local agencies that support family caregivers, and/or
Help connect respite care workers with family caregivers and/or respite care providers.
Mini-Grant Program for Agencies
Grant Awards:
Looking to award an average of 10 grants each year at an average of $2,500.

9. Caregiver Respite Grant Program
Step #1: Eligible applicants must be the primary family caregiver or care recipient where the care recipient lives in Wisconsin AND: 
Is unable to perform, without substantial assistance from another person, at least two activities of daily living for an expected period of at least 90 days due to a loss of functional capacity; AND/OR
Requires substantial supervision due to your severe cognitive, intellectual, or physical impairment. 
Has applied for Long-Term Waiver support(s) and are not expecting to receive services and/or approval within thirty (30) days of this application.
Has applied for and been denied Long- Term Care Waiver support(s) or other program* that provides respite services.
Step #2: If determined to be eligible, applicants are asked to complete a comprehensive Caregiver Respite Grant Program that provides information about the family caregiver, care recipient, and respite care worker/provider.
Please note that moving to Step 2 in the process is not a guarantee your request will be approved, it just means you are eligible to apply.
Each application will be reviewed for completion of information and satisfaction of requirements.
Applicant must identify the dates of respite care – whether planned or unplanned respite – along with respite worker/provider, compensation and total amount of grant funds requested.

10. Caregiver Respite Grant Program
Highlights:
No minimum or maximum – must be reasonable. (Going market rates based on level of need, type of respite, etc.)
Can reapply 90 days after grant award – up to 4 times a year.
Must complete and submit to RCAW a Satisfaction Survey after each grant award to be eligible to apply again.
No household income criteria to meet.
Can hire family/friends – whomever caregiver and care- recipient determine is best to provide respite care.
Care recipient must live in Wisconsin. Does not need to live with primary family caregiver.
