DEVELOPING WATER SAFE COMMUNITIES

A Future Without Drowning
Tragically around 400 people drown around the UK every year and a further 200 take their own lives on our waters. Many of these deaths are preventable and we believe more can be done to reduce this loss of life. Emergency Services have attended at least 60 water incidents around the City Centre in the past 4 years. In last 11yrs tragically Manchester City Centre has seen 28 Fatalities, 26 of those were in canals

THE STATISTICS In the last 11 years 139 people drowned in Greater Manchester. 28 people drowned in the city centre in the same period In Manchester city centre alcohol was or probably was a factor in the drowning in 66% of those.
