Life is hard As children – we wonder if we’ll ever make it to adulthood: School, friend problems, bullying, etc. As adults – we still struggle Relationships: friends, marriage, children. Holding a job; supporting a family. Illness, accidents, death, etc. We begin to question, “why was I put here on earth?”

The trials of life: not unique to any one
Elijah felt like it. 1 Kings 19:10 Jonah did as well. Jonah 4:3 Whether we’re so full of fear, anxiety, sadness, or anger it just feels difficult to go forward in life.

Trials – or “Tests” – are a part of “life”
God ultimately tested Abraham’s faithfulness to fully trust in Him. Genesis 22:1, 11-12 He tested Israel after leaving Egypt. Exodus 15:25-26; 16:4 The purpose of such “tests” – to fully trust in our God and keep from sinning. Cp. Exodus 20:20; Deuteronomy 8:2

Trials within the church 1 Corinthians 3
Some Christians “do church” with immature/fleshly actions: jealousy, strife, etc. Vss. 1-4 To “pass the test” our life must be based upon works that endure. Vss By the grace of God even immature Christians can be saved! Vss

Love guarantees you will “pass”
Individually, when we’re faced with the daunting trials of life…find the good. James 1:2-5 Collectively, strive to work together. 1 Corinthians 3, 13 “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” (James 1:12)
