5. October Take the ACT- October 28th Create FSA ID and file FAFSA

9. What Colleges Consider Most
Transcript
Did the student take the most difficult classes offered at their high school? Did they succeed in those classes?
Extra-curricular activities
Did the student have a leadership role? Was the student minimally involved in many activities, or deeply involved in a few?
Test Scores
ACT or SAT is acceptable. Some will want SAT II. Are the scores in range?
Essay/Personal Statement
Display strong writing skills? Tell a story about the student? Address the prompt? Learn something new?
Interview
Does the student know about the college? Do they “match” what appears on their application? Would they be a good fit at this institution?
Interest
Some schools consider number of visits, expressed interest, etc. Some do not. Ask.

10. FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
Can begin to file January 1; priority deadlines may be as early as February 1.
This affects your eligibility for federal funds like a Pell Grant or Access Missouri Grant
Your EFC also determines how much aid institutions may offer your student
FAFSA Frenzy: October 4th and 5th during Parent teacher conferences.
