About the Contract Research Unit (CRU)
The IT Sligo Contract Research Unit (CRU) as part of the Research Office provides dedicated outreach Research, Development & Innovation support to regional enterprises, communities, individuals and public sector. We offer: Advice on funding initiatives available Assistance with funding applications Providing or sourcing the technical skills to develop your project Key focus areas: Design assistance for new or improved products or processes Analysis and optimisation of resource, energy & waste streams Innovative Waste reduction/recycling systems Renewable energy and sustainable technologies CAD design and 3D prototyping

Grants available • Warmer Homes Scheme
- free energy efficiency upgrades for low income households • Better Energy Homes Scheme - All homeowners, including landlords, homes built & occupied before 2006 • Warmth and Wellbeing Pilot Scheme (Dublin Only) - aims to improve living conditions of people living with chronic respiratory conditions • Community Grant Programme - community energy efficiency projects • Deep Retrofit Scheme - up to 50% of the total capital costs and project management costs combined • Electric Vehicle Grant + Home Charger Grant - electric vehicle grants make it more affordable to switch to an EV • Solar PhotoVoltaic (PV) Grant • Business Grants

Fuel Allowance as part of the National Fuel Scheme. Job Seekers Allowance for over six months and have a child under seven years of age Working Family Payment One-Parent Family Payment Domiciliary Care Allowance Carers Allowance and live with the person you are caring for Delivered Free of Charge Must own and live in the home treated, which must have been built and occupied before 2006 What is offered: Attic insulation Wall insulation Lagging jackets & Energy advice Draught proofing Low energy light bulbs Windows* Heating upgrade* *Subject to survey How to apply: Website or Freephone Scheme is open all year

What is a BER? An energy label with accompanying advisory report for homes. The rating is a simple A to G scale.

Advisory Report Each BER includes and advisory report with information on the energy performance of the various elements and systems in the home: Should include upgrade options: Low/Medium/High cost Technical – ask the Assessor for a plain summary of recommendations
