What information can we get from it? How do we read the periodic table?

Elements of the Periodic Table
Transition metals-good conductors of electricity; shiny; less reactive than alkali metals or alkaline earth metals Noble gases-don’t combine chemically with any other atoms, not even themselves. Totally chemically nonreactive Halogens-most reactive of the non-metals; will react with most metals

Metalloids(semi-metals)- Brittle solids with some properties of both metals and non-metals.
Alkali Metals- Silvery and soft enough to cut with a knife. Extremely reactive with non-metals; never found in nature alone. These are the most reactive of all the metals. Alkaline Earth Metals- harder, denser, stronger than alkali metals. Higher melting points, too. Less reactive than Alkali metals but too reactive to be found in nature alone, always combined. Non-metals- brittle, not shiny, not good conductors of electricity. Includes gases (vapors)
