BOSTON TEA PARTY—

2 Boston Massacre - Encounter between British troops and a group of citizens protesting the Townshend Acts. British troops fired into the crowd, killing five citizens. Boston Tea Party - December 16, 1773-protest of British tax on tea imported to the colonies.

4 Common Sense-- Pamphlet written by Thomas Paine which argued it was foolish for the colonies to be governed by a country so far away and that the colonies should have self-rule. Committee of Correspondence-- An organization that used meetings, letters, and pamphlets to spread political ideas through the colonies.

7 Unalienable Rights-- Basic rights that cannot be taken away from the people such as “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.” These rights are in the Declaration of Independence. Proclamation of Following the end of the French & Indian War, King George III of Britain forbid all settlement past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains
