Now, please clear off your desk for the Chunk Paragraph activity. In this activity, you will work with your quad to piece together the components of a chunk paragraph and their respective descriptors and examples.
The object is to lay out the strips of paper in such a way that they vertically display the logical progression of the components of a paragraph while at the same time horizontally display the accurate descriptors and examples of said components.
The four categories of each component are:

The quote "We are made to persist; that's how we find out who we are" written by Tobias Wolff is an analysis statement about human behavior. Persistence means to hold firmly to a purpose despite warnings or set-backs, and Mr. Wolff is saying that the true character of a person is shown through obstacles he does, or does not, conquer. For example, when one completes a major English 12 assignment but does so inaccurately, one must continue forward learning from mistakes and trying harder the next time. As one progresses through the cycle each time, one learns not only of one's ability, but also of one's limitations. This introspective process allows one to proceed confidently in making future life decisions. To conclude, Wolff is communicating that only through challenges does one find the true self.

(TS) The characteristics of the ORGANIZATION writing trait focus on the structure of a piece of writing. (CD) For example, all writing should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. (CM#1) In other words, the introduction of the writing sets the stage for the reader and informs the reader of the topic of the writing; the body of the text provides the supporting documentation to the introduction; the conclusion reminds the reader of the points presented in the body and may solicit an action on behalf of the reader. (CM#2) Using a sophisticated framework matters in that if the piece of writing was not put in logical order, the reader would not be able to comprehend the message as intended by the writer. (CS) In conclusion, the ORGANIZATION trait is the framework of a piece of writing.
