3 People are moving to the cloud to simplify IT and move faster
38% of organizations plan to host the majority of workloads in private cloud environments by Agility Portability Simplicity Scalability Pay-per-use Security Compliance Business leaders assume that they can get the right experience from the cloud – speed, invisible IT that just works, and pay for what they use. But good governance requires proper control of compliance, data protection and location; security, privacy, latency, and service continuity; performance and availability5. Plus, public cloud may not always be the lowest cost as the users, data and of the projects increase without proper implementation or governance. The shift to consumption and everything-as-a-service accelerates your business – but often with complications. Many enterprises have not thought through what it takes to take care of every workload – to ensure compliance, performance, privacy, security, resilience and best cost. With new technologies and emerging workloads, organizations need to get the advice and professional help for planning and managing their Hybrid IT. Enterprise customers are widely adopting a consumption model on premises as well, to get the flexibility, affordability, and rapid access to leading-edge IT capabilities. Cloud services are delivered in a consumption model, and the trend is for on premises services to do so as well. In fact, IDC predicts that “By 2020, Consumption-Based Procurement in Data Centers Will Have Eclipsed Traditional Procurement Through Improved "as a Service" Models, Thus Accounting for as Much as 40% of Enterprises' IT Infrastructure Spending” 6 Hybrid IT is emerging as the new normal for enterprise IT because it allows enterprises to choose the blend of apps, services, and platforms that work for their needs – the “right mix”. Customers can move beyond standalone implementations of public and private cloud to deliver a common experience from on or off-premises IT. “Workload deployment venues are shifting away from traditional legacy IT environments. Public cloud is but one destination. •Private cloud (on-premises, hosted) as the deployment venue for the majority of workloads: 28% of organizations in 2018; 38% by 2020. •Public cloud (IaaS/PaaS, SaaS) as the deployment venue for the majority of workloads: 17% of organizations in 2018; 30% by 2020.”5 – 451 Research 30% of organizations plan to host the majority of workloads in public cloud by 93% of enterprises engage an outside expert to help them design, implement, and/or manage their hybrid cloud2. 1 Voice of the Enterprise – Digital Pulse 451 Research May 2018 2 State of the Hybrid Cloud – Frost & Sullivan 2018

4 Customer business challenges
IT is struggling to keep up with the demands of the business which include a push for cloud services and capabilities. While majority of IT budget is spent on maintaining existing systems, IT has neither the budget nor the expertise to support this transformation. They need a solution that can meet the demands of all their workloads in a consistent manner with the flexibility to move workloads across the hybrid IT spectrum – private cloud, public cloud and traditional IT – to adjust their RIGHT MIX as business demands change. Segue: These buyers are looking for a partner to help them identify, select and implement the right solution to meet these challenges My business moves fast and my infrastructure needs to move faster for business agility My developers are demanding public cloud services and capabilities My business wants better Return on Investment for their IT spend I need flexibility to move workloads between on or off- premises to improve application performance and control Compliance and security demands keep some of my workloads on premises but I still have to meet SLAs My business has cycles of high and low usage and I need my infrastructure to adjust to business needs For HPE and Channel Partner internal use only

5 Consumption-based IT offers a better approach
By 2020, consumption-based procurement in datacenters will account for as much as 40% of enterprises' IT infrastructure spending1 What we hear from our customers, and from industry analysts is that the cloud experience has shaped what business leaders expect from IT. The pay as you go, rapid scalability, operated for you model will become common. It is so much more flexible and easier to work with that it’s expected that the industry will adopt a consumption model across the board, including for on premises IT. Cloud economics No up front capital outlay, no overprovisioning, variable cost Faster value Accelerate app and services deployment Fuel Innovation Free up your people to do their best work Proper control Manage performance, latency, risk, and cost 1IDC FutureScape: Worldwide Datacenter 2018 Predictions Nov 2017 DOC # US

6 Start by optimizing your Hybrid Cloud with the right mix
Assess your workloads against application requirements, sourcing policy and business needs The Right Mix of Hybrid IT The first and most important step is to find your right mix1 In a recent Frost & Sullivan survey, 51 percent of IT decision-makers cited “assessing the optimal deployment model for workloads” as a difficult challenge in implementing their Hybrid IT environment. It’s complicated, and the landscape changes constantly. Not too long ago, traditional IT was the default platform. Here, the application, service, and workload were all nicely tied together. The terrain was familiar and mostly contained within your data center, whereas hybrid IT typically involves a more complex mix of environments and many variables. Your right mix will be unique to you because your business is unique. For this reason HPE offers advisory services to discover, assess, and migrate applications and workloads with our customers. Operating the right mix: Cloud ops isn’t IT ops “CloudOps” is an emerging practice of continuous delivery and operations of cloud computing infrastructure, 24x7x365 with nonstop service, competitive performance and usability, and the scalability and security required for modern online services. Many people think the hard part is the architecture and implementation of cloud infrastructure, but we beg to differ. The hardest part is continuous, reliable operations that out-deliver on user’s expectations. Automate workload migration using tools and containerization techniques Manage the environment as CloudOps

7 Step-approach to finding your workload suitability right mix
Workload mapped to cloud services Workload qualified for platform Service mapping What services within the cloud platforms are used by the workload? Infrastructure API Web services Others Suitability and mapping services enable customers to gauge workload suitability against targeted cloud platforms; this process allows customers to forecast how feasible it is to host an application in the cloud platform and whether there will there be a benefit to migration. Customers can use multiple business, technical, financial, and functional criteria to rationalize workloads against and identify cloud fit. Suitability for workloads can be performed simultaneously for multiple cloud platforms and industry standards. HPE’s unique automated workload rationalization processes allow customers to focus on more critical business and technical priorities. The process of identifying and classifying workloads suitable to multiple industry standard cloud targets is accelerated using HPE’s workload suitability and mapping engine, which automates the cumbersome process of workload rationalization. Using these tools, customers can rapidly create cloud workload portability blueprints, which can be used as a baseline towards successful cloud migration projects. Suitability analysis also takes into account multiple operating and deployment models, and cost benefit analysis to forecast cloud transformation ROI. Candidate for workload suitability Deployment process What is the deployment process? IaaS SaaS PaaS Workload Platform suitability What is the best platform for the workload? Hosting model What is the Hosting Model? Public Private Hybrid Community Cloud suitability How suitable is a Workload for Cloud?

Methodology: Minimum Viable Cloud (MVC) Implement cloud services to consider: Security Operations Automation Resource management Cost control Compliance Tooling Account structure MVC methodology allows customers to quickly demonstrate the viability and value of hybrid cloud to their organization. Integrated into operational services of HPE GreenLake Hybrid Cloud Minimum Viable Cloud, noun: the methodology developed by experts at CTP and proven to be the fastest way to secure your success in a hybrid cloud environment. Minimum Viable Cloud – the methodology HPE GreenLake Hybrid Cloud is based on our Minimum Viable Cloud (MVC) methodology. This is a secure public cloud environment running at least one client application and is designed to exercise an organization’s muscles, demonstrate the viability of cloud services and engage all necessary stakeholders. Perfected with over 400 engagements, an MVC can be built in any hybrid cloud environment, typically during the Build Phase of the HPE Cloud Transformation Program. We align our comprehensive security protection to Cloud Security Alliance guidelines, ISO and other frameworks, and ensure maximum security protection with data protection and availability, encryption of data at rest and in transit, log management and analytics, network traffic inspection and protection, and by segmenting the network into multiple zones. HPE moves customers to the highly automated “infrastructure as code” Minimum Viable Cloud model to gain the baseline best practices. Then HPE operates those cloud services for you, using the MVC approach and leveraging the best practices and tools for ongoing optimization and operation.

13 How HPE GreenLake Flex Capacity benefits IT
59% of enterprises wait 3 months or longer for new capacity 1 59% for compute and 48% for storage1 Save on costs due to overprovisioning Enterprises overprovision on average by Capacity ahead of demand Maintain a safe buffer of capacity 50% experienced downtime due to capacity planning 57% received complaints of slow performance1 Traditional purchases Buffer Minimum commitment level Compute needed and invoiced $ Savings In the areas with the financials graphic, assets that were purchased to meet future capacity needs are sitting idle, tying up capital that could be used to benefit the business. In the areas with the time – plan graphic, assets were not purchased early enough to meet the increase in capacity demand. While waiting out the procurement cycle, the business is unable to take advantage of new opportunities or begin key new initiatives. Often procurement cycles take 3-4 months, meaning missed opportunities. With HPE GreenLake Flex Capacity you get additional capacity in minutes, not months, and you pay for what you use, subject to a minimum commitment. Savings Time 1 451 Research November 2016
