Student Learning Expectations
A St. Patrick student is: a person of faith. a model citizen. and an academic scholar.

Standards All instruction is based on the California State Standards and Common Core Standards for kindergarten and centered around weekly themes.

Daily Schedule/ Info Schedule Lunch/Milk Tardies/Attendance Conferences November Circle of Grace Dress Code

Homework Kindergarteners have no formal written homework, but practice and reinforcement of concepts and skills at home, especially reading help to bolster student success. Please read to or with your child nightly. Help encourage small motor skill development, early writing skills and correct letter formation with play activities.

Grading Kindergarten is not graded in the same way as other grades. Schoolwork is practice. Students are tested individually on skills based on the Common Core and state standards. Students then receive report cards each trimester that shows what they have mastered or what they may need more time on. Kindergarteners do not receive progress reports

Assessment We use many forms of assessment in kindergarten. We will use a computerized, adaptive Early Literacy Assessment to help guide individual instruction.

Discipline Students will be given positive feedback for good behavior. Students exhibiting poor behavior will be given a verbal reminder. The student will then be asked to move their pin and go on a time-out. Parents will receive a behavior report on Fridays or a phone call for excessive or repeated poor behavior. Student of the Month will be chosen for good behavior and academics

Student of the Month A student will be selected each month to be recognized in front of the school at an assembly. The student chosen is someone who has demonstrated excellence in academics, citizenship, and/or personal growth.

Volunteering Volunteers must have TB and fingerprint clearance and complete a student safety course (Shield The Vulnerable) to work in contact with students. If you drive students on a field trip or drive for school business you must also complete an online driving course. Please sign-up to work at centers on Shiftboard.
