1 The God Who Loves 1 John 4:7–11

2 1. Why did God send His son into the world to save us?
- Because He loves us. But why does God love us? - Because God is love.

3 2. Why did Jesus have to suffer and die in order to save us?
- Because God willed it. But why did God will it? - Because God is holy.

4 3. How is it possible for Jesus to have risen from the grave?
- Because God is powerful. But why did Jesus’ body have to come alive again? - Because God is life.

5 His week of passion On Sunday he enters Jerusalem with shouts of Hosanna On Monday he weeps over Jerusalem On Tuesday he cleanses the Temple On Wednesday he prepares for Passover On Thursday he is betrayed and arrested On Friday he is crucified

6 Jesus knew it would happen
“The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day.” And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.” Luke 9:22–25

7 1 John 4:7–8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

8 1 John 4:9–10 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

9 1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

10 1. Why did God send His son into the world to save us?
- Because He loves us. But why does God love us? - Because God is love.
