1 CARTESIAN COORDINATE SYSTEM
RENE´ DECARTES CARTESIAN COORDINATE SYSTEM

2 Objective Students will discuss the Cartesian coordinate system and use it to input commands in AutoCAD by studying absolute, relative, and polar coordinate systems.

3 RENE´ DECARTES René Descartes (March 31, 1596 – February 11, 1650), was a highly influential French philosopher, mathematician, scientist, and writer. He has been dubbed the "Father of Modern Philosophy" and the "Father of Modern Mathematics", and much of subsequent Western philosophy is a reaction to his writings, which continue to be studied closely, even to the present day.

4 Rectangular Is a square a rectangle? Is a rectangle a square?
In a rectangle two sides have equal length. In a square all four sides have equal length.

5 Point System Absolute Relative Polar

6 Absolute Absolute Coordinates uses the Cartesian System to specify a position in the X, Y, to locate a point from the 0-X, 0-Y

7 Relative Relative coordinate system—Any coordinate system that is moving with respect to an inertial coordinate system. The Change in (X,Y)

8 Polar Polar coordinate system is a two-dimensional coordinate system in which each point on a plane is determined by an angle and a distance.

9 How Do I Move Around a Circle
Radians Degrees Concentric
