2 Migrant workers Migrant workers were sometimes referred to as “hobos” and were a transient population that primarily performed farm labour in return for lodging and income.

3 Migrant Workers Migrant workers often had to live in makeshift dwellings. This could be particularly challenging for those workers who had families with them. Migrant workers consisted of a mix of populations and ethnic backgrounds. These communities worked and live together, moving when and where the work demanded.

6 Migrant workers Migrant workers were overseen by a farm owner and often times an employee or family member that would directly supervise and organize the hired labour. The work was challenging and low-paying, but for many, it was the only way to secure a living.
