Migrant workers Migrant workers were sometimes referred to as “hobos” and were a transient population that primarily performed farm labour in return for lodging and income.

Migrant Workers Migrant workers often had to live in makeshift dwellings. This could be particularly challenging for those workers who had families with them. Migrant workers consisted of a mix of populations and ethnic backgrounds. These communities worked and live together, moving when and where the work demanded.

Migrant workers Migrant workers were overseen by a farm owner and often times an employee or family member that would directly supervise and organize the hired labour. The work was challenging and low-paying, but for many, it was the only way to secure a living.
