PROJECT OVERVIEW To customize, test, and implement a grant projection tool to meet requirements for the PIs at Kaiser Permanente

Current Situation Day-to-Day research activities leave PIs guessing financial impacts Dept. delegate may have own version of tracking costs PIs request a “plug & play” financial sheet

• Buy-In Across Departments • Existing business processes • Expectations (automate or manual?) • Documentation • Dedicated Resources

MODEL THE WAY My voice • Bringing skills/tools to management • Interview PIs and Dept. delegate • Review existing tools and systems Set the example • Modify existing projection tool to meet PI’s expectations

PROJECTION TOOL Functionality Requirements • Ability to maintain & record notes • Minimal Manual inputs • Multi-user file sharing • Flexibility to add rows/columns • Summary for snapshot review • Ease of use – Like checkbook!

CHALLENGE THE PROCESS Venturing out to the unknown • Beta test with the most Meticulous PIs Small wins and learning experiences… Tapping into the heart, mind, and courage

ENABLE OTHERS TO ACT Collaborate and Build trust • Publish test sheet with actual data on Share Drive • Client and/or delegate establish parameters to update data Engaging others to be part of the process • “Real-time” adjustments during financial reviews with PI & delegate • Present Beta findings at Team Meeting and with Org. Leaders.

• Help PIs & delegates feel empowered to make financial decisions
