This chart will help you organize the research you do on your chosen historical figure. For each of the questions in the left hand column, cut and paste your findings into the appropriate boxes to the right. You will need to decide whether the supporting evidence you find directly answers the question in the left-hand box, or whether it helps you infer an answer. (An inference is a conclusion that is suggested by, but not directly stated in, the evidence.) For some of the questions, you may find both kinds of evidence: evidence that allows you to make a direct response to the question, and evidence that allows you to infer an answer. A few extra blank boxes at the bottom of the left-hand column are provided so that you can include additional questions for research.

Oral Reports. The purpose of the oral report is to think like a dramatist: what aspects of this character are most interesting or engaging? The oral reports may be delivered straight or with a dramatic flair— by telling the audience what is interesting about this character, or by showing. Those students inclined to high drama should feel free to "become" their historical figure and address the class as such.
