Monday 05/08: Arrive Meet your hosts and get set up Tuesday 06/08: Local day Explore local Canadian life Wednesday 07/08: Scouting day Experience Canadian Scouting with your hosts Thursday 08/08: Depart This is hosted not homestay You might be camping or in a church basement (etc), hosted by a CA group Likely to be arriving late Local day – it’s about the local stuff not big ticket things But – you could do things like Niagara, CN Tower if you wanted to, plan with your hosts and think about costs Suggestions from hosts so far: Hiking, national parks Local museums, forts BBQ Pot luck dinner Fishing Hockey Beach Canadian Scouting: Earn a badge – new Canadian Path programme has lots of staged awards All sections camp fire Be prepared to depart early!

9 HoHo: Next Steps We’re working towards everyone going to Canada but you should be aware we are also talking with BSA We’re working through the detail including travel We aim to give you your host’s contact details by AAW Work together with your young people, your hosts and their young people to plan your experience! 11 UKC Advice The passport and travel documentation you intend to travel on, must be uploaded as part of Phase 4 Registration Phase 4 will close on 20th January 2019 Action may need to be taken by your participants NOW Check with your government if your passport needs to be valid for a certain time. Yes won’t need it for land travel but some are flying to Canada for HoHo and passport issue so can’t say which unit it is Emergency repatriation

We recommend it is valid for six months AFTER date of return Valid travel documentation which allows you to enter the USA and Canada It is the responsibility of each individual Contingent member to ensure they have the correct documentation We will update the website, with new travel information Let you know when we update the website – we will send an

Apply for an ESTA to enter the USA Apply for an eTA to enter Canada These are to be uploaded in Phase 4 If you have travelled to certain countries in the last few years then you may not be able to obtain these documents. This may mean you need to apply for a visa Ensure that you are using the official government websites. Other websites charge extra fees! If you already have an ESTA or an eTA, it is valid up to point of expiry or until you change your passport which you will then need another one. Check on US government website for list of countries Fee is $14 ( Fee is around $7 (£4.20)
