Topics Today What is the Presentation? Transition Plans
Application to Present Early Term #2 Expectations
5
What is the Presentation?
It’s not too soon to start, but too soon to panic It includes your Transition Plan It is an interview / presentation format… It is NOT reciting your Community Connections, Career & Life and Personal Health evidence It IS sharing what you are proud of (Grades 10-12, in and out of school), your 12 month transition plan, and your future goals
6
Transition Plan Links your past, present and future
You will answer these questions: What have you been doing? What are you most proud of? Where are you going? How does what you’ve been doing link to what you will be doing?
7
Transition Plan You MUST be prepared to talk about (and show evidence of): Your Work Employment and Volunteer experience Your Healthy Living Plan (100 hours DPA) Your Education or Career Plan Your Financial Plan BUT… You might not have to.
8
What Will your Transition Plan look like?
At this point, there are two options, you need to select at least one. In addition to the questions already asked in the previous slide, you will either have an Education Plan or a Career Plan. REMEMBER: These are plans. They should be do-able but plans change. This is a time to process, not a time to panic.
9
Gap Years are Great! But you must have a plan, which could include:
Non-Traditional Education: up-grading, non-academic courses, special interest learning, etc. Travel: passport, finances, travel plan, why you’re going where Employment / Volunteering: resume, goals (personal/financial) Sports: national teams, etc. with evidence of goals
10
What Will your Transition Plan look like?
