All four have a carbon base and are organic compounds.

At each station you must…
Read the corresponding passage.
Count the atoms in the molecule.
Color the molecule to match the model on the table.
Answer the analysis questions.

17. Now you try! Work as a group to build a duplicate model of the macromolecule you are sitting at.
Use the playdough to make atoms and the toothpicks to make bonds. In some scenarios you may have to break the toothpick. Use spatial reasoning and logic to duplicate the model!

18. Discussion Which ones looked the most alike? Why or why not?
What did you notice about oxygen atoms. Who do they normally hang out with. How many bonds can hydrogen form?
