Welcome to Middle School
Curriculum jump Homework, according to AISD policy, is about 60 minutes per night Kids function with more independence

SCIENCE Mostly Physical science, some Earth Science and little bit of Life Science at the end of the year to prepare for 7th grade. writing We use Springboard Level 1
Writing several papers this year. BOY, MOY, EOY Narrative, Expository Grades from writing will have my name next to them.

Reading: Students should be reading every night that it’s possible
Must have a book in all classes Library checkout is on Mondays and during computer lab; can check out up to 3 books Vocabulary games are on my web page for extra practice

Get signed and return in exchange for 5 MAX Bucks Will be put in a drawing every other week for privileges Max Bucks- lunch with 1 friend in the room, free recess, or other items such as pencils, erasers, or extra papers can be purchased

Folders: Purple Vaughan Wednesday folders, content area folders and red conduct folder go everywhere with the students Students carry backpacks to classes and should have everything they need. Graded papers should be in Viking folder and taken home. Bring folder back, NOT PAPERS! Parents should sign and date on line NOTHING SHOULD BE IN RED FOLDER EXCEPT CONDUCT CARD

Grading Grading Policy
Late work is any assignment that is not turned on the date it is due as long as the student is not absent that day. 10 points will be taken off per school day for late work up to three school days Points to Remember: All grades can be accessed through Skyward. A grade that has been circled will be recorded in the grade book. (See Handbook) We are unable to provide work in advance for unexcused absences. Please work with your child so he/she can stay after school.

Communication Card & Expectations:
Red folder is ONLY for conduct card. 3 back to class signatures count as 1 conduct mark, lose ½ of EXTRA recess 1 conduct mark lose ½ EXTRA recess or more lose all of EXTRA recess 3+ in the same week is detention Detention on Thursday 3PM-3:45PM – parents will be contacted Late assignment log does not count as conduct mark but counts for rewards picnic. Late assignments = missed EXTRA recess even if the assignment is completed before recess day. Study Hall: Students are responsible for bringing their red folder to study hall to be stamped. No folder= no stamp. Absent on recess day= no stamp. No book or work=no stamp, resulting in another missed recess. 75 Max Bucks = can buy back EXTRA recess if card is signed by all and assignment is completed and turned in.

Conduct Sheet/Discipline & Expectations Continued…
Lost conduct card = 10 conduct marks; if found ---marks are removed Conduct card needs to be signed each day a conduct mark is received Students are responsible for bringing teacher the blue card when turning in a late assignment for them to sign off on it Cellphones must be off (not just silenced) and stay in backpacks until students leave school property Teacher will keep until the end of the day on 1st offense Phone will be turned into office on 2nd offense and parent must pick up Hallway expectations: SILENT while walking in the hallways and in the restrooms Rewards picnic: 9 or less marks in folder gets invited(includes conduct AND late assignments); others eat in cafeteria

Help younger grades in/out of cars Pick morning, afternoon or both 7:35-7:50AM 2:55-3:10 It is a commitment. Forms are available from Mr. Jung

Agendas: Agendas are to be written in each day at the beginning of class. The responsibility is on the student. We don’t ask you to sign them but will monitor if work is not being turned in. You are welcome to monitor it at home. If they don’t turn in homework frequently, we will monitor the agenda.

Restroom Rules: When Nature Calls…
Allowable times with no blue card signed:(first thing in the morning; before/after specials; before/after/in between classes; before lunch; after lunch; before/after recess) After 3rd signature, they must go to the nurse’s office; No leaving class for drinks; can bring a water bottle No talking in restroom

Google Classroom Many assignments in all classes will be accessed through Google Classroom. Can access through the portal OR Students log in with their portal password
