4 Cap & Gowns Cap and gowns are required
Cap and gowns must be purchased through Herff Jones. If you haven’t purchased both cap and gown, please visit (late fee after Feb. 28th) Graduation announcements and other memorabilia are optional Cap, gown, announcements and other ordered items will not be delivered until May

5 Graduation Eligibility
All course and testing requirements must be met All fees and fines must be cleared No alternative placement (i.e. ADAPT)

6 SCHS Graduation Dress Code

7 Gentlemen are expected to dress as follows
Wear a white dress shirt (with a collar) Regular dress tie Black dress trousers or slacks Wear dark colored dress shoes or boots (no tennis or casual shoes) No facial hair/clean-shaven No Earrings Note: Jeans or denim material is not permitted

8 Ladies are expected to dress as follows:
Wear a dress/skirt of school appropriate length that does not extend below the gown OR black dress trousers or slacks and white dress shirt Wear dark colored or neutral dress shoes or sandals Note: High heels are not recommended

9 DRESS CODE Students who do not comply with the designated dress code will be asked to change/correct the issue or may not be allowed to participate in the commencement exercises

10 Day of – Personal Belongings
Keep personal belongings to a minimum Belongings must fit in a gallon size baggie Put name inside cap and gown

11 Only Honors to Be Displayed
NHS – White Stole Top 10 Graduates – Gold Cord Remaining 10% – Gold / Silver cord Advanced Placement Scholars – Silver Cord Note: Taking 8 AP tests or scoring a 3 or higher on at least 3 AP tests Dual Degree – Red / Silver Cord Military Commits – Red / White / Blue Cord No adornments will be allowed on graduation cap Note – cords will be provided by the school

13 SCHS Graduation Ceremony Information at NRG Center

14 Student Transportation
All graduates must report to SCHS no later than 6:15 am and are required to ride the Alvin ISD bus to NRG Center We will be serving a light breakfast at the school before departure to NRG Center Students will have the opportunity to ride home with parents/family or return to SCHS on the Alvin ISD bus

15 Entry to NRG There is no limit to the number of guests who can attend. Tickets are not required to enter.

16 Parking All graduate candidates will receive one free parking pass. All others will pay approximately $12. Orange parking lot is the ideal lot to park in, red is also a good option, however, you may park in any lot that is available. Metrorail has a drop off location very close to the NRG Center Handicap parking will be available, and be allowed to be dropped off in front of the building with a handicap sticker. There is a lot of construction in the area as well as several graduation ceremonies going on at the same time, make sure to allow enough time for traffic.

17 NRG Center Guests of SCHS graduates will be allowed to enter the Hall at 8:00 am, graduation begins at 9:00 am NRG security will be conducting bag checks at the door Parents are not allowed in Hall A at any time Re-entry will NOT BE ALLOWED. Once you exit NRG Center or the Hall you will not be allowed to come back inside. There will be an on-site photographer to order graduation photos Flowers will be available for pre-order or for purchase in the lobby at NRG on the day of graduation

18 Rules for Guests No air horns No helium balloons
No confetti or glitter No food or drinks allowed in NRG Center

19 Graduation Practice There will be two required meetings for graduates
Thursday, May 23rd 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM Friday, May 24th 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM

20 Counselors Cove SCHS counselors will be visiting with seniors during their English 4 classes March 25th – March 29th It is imperative to be in attendance. Counselors will discuss the following: Senior progress toward graduation College decisions Scholarships received Other important items pertaining to graduation Be sure to bring along a list of scholarships that have been awarded and the award amount for each.

22 Senior Trip Date: Friday, May 10th
Time: Immediately after 1st period and returning at 6:00 pm WET’N’WILD SplashTown in Spring, TX (Hurricane Harbor) Cost is $175 Fins Up – Package E which includes one Prom Ticket and one Senior Trip Ticket (must be purchased by April 26th) Lunch is provided, however, students may want to bring extra spending money for snacks

23 SCHS Prom “An Enchanted Evening”
Date: Saturday, May 4th, 2019 Time: 7:30 PM, no admittance after 9:30 PM Location: Moody Gardens Price: $65 per ticket, after April 26th cost is $75 All SCHS Juniors and Seniors are invited Students must be clear of all fees & fines before they purchase a ticket Direct questions to Mrs. Hudson at or Mrs. Green at
